Geography Year 10
The Year 10 Geography Assessment task is carefully mapped to the NESA Stage 5 Geography Environmental Management Investigative Study. Students work in as a group to select one type of environment in Australia as the context for a comparative study with one other country. Students identify one environmental challenge associated with this environment, explain how the problem is currently being managed and propose a new solution that could be applied in both countries. They will present their ideas as a five-minute video, which can be entered into the Green Innovation Awards. To enter the Awards, this task needs to be undertaken during Term 2. Students are provided with a booklet that not only scaffolds the brainstorming and research phases to get the students started, but also provides a marking-criteria, student self-reflection and a checklist to guide them through the entire process.
